Starting the Challenge

It is hard to think of the change that I want to lead, given that there is a tight timeline, and I am in an environment and culture which is new to me. However, this is also exciting as I will be able to learn how to approach changes in a different cultural setting.

There are a few suggestions that I came with, which are as below:

  1. To reduce the water usage in my college, as the shower pressure is too high - however, the high pressure could also be contributing to as shorter shower duration, and a lower water utilisation.
  2. To introduce small scale technology that can be purchased by college members - given that the students are highly motivated to contribute to the reduction in climate change contributing factors, it will be great if a minor solution can be given to them, specific to those who are interested.
  3. Mini wind turbine in college - slightly far fetched given the tight timeline.
  4. Preparing roadmap for the college to meet zero carbon emission by 2050 - this is quite an interesting project that I can do, but not really doing a change, but more to chartering the path to the changes to be adopted.
  5. Personal challenge?
Though there are various ideas to look at, I believe it is essential that I meet with my college maintenance team and administrators to see if they have a project that they wanted to work on, and needed someone to lead it. To which, I will need to make an appointment first.
